Shamrock Shuffle 8k Training 2017: Weeks 3 & 4

I haven’t made good on my promise to post once a week, but at least I’m posting a bit more, right?

These past two weeks have been, yet again, a whirlwind of positives and negatives. Things have been stressful and exciting in my neck of the woods. I successfully completed my pseudo Vegetarian Whole 30 (and lost 6 pounds!!!), put a downpayment on our honeymoon to Mexico (!!!!), and have been dealing with a lot of stress as well. Gotta take the good with the bad. At least I have running to help me cope with the negative aspects of life (and to help me further enjoy the positive aspects!).

Training has been going pretty well, but I have skipped 1 workout per week at least. I decided that for Lent this year, I will not give up anything, but instead I am committing to 4 quality workouts per week. No more skipping or phoning in my workouts. Here is how I did the last 2 weeks:

Week 3

Monday: 30 minute elliptical workout

Tuesday: 2 miles + some bodyweight exercises at home

Wednesday: 35 minute tempo run

Thursday – Sunday: Rest. I ended up staying at my future in-laws’ place that weekend and ended up skipping my long run in favor of making wedding crafts. I am usually really busy at work on Thursdays and Fridays and cannot exercise. These are my excuses, which will not hold up during Lent 😉

Week 4 

Monday: Yoga class

Tuesday: 3 mile run

Wednesday: Elliptical workout

Thursday – Saturday: Rest (skipped my interval workout…)

Sunday: 5 mile long run (ironically on March 5th, which is exactly 5 months from our wedding. Gotta love the number 5!)

Speaking of the wedding, our plans are coming together and I’m thinking August 5th will be an epic day. My future mother in law has helped me a lot with crafts recently, which is such a weight off my shoulders. I am not very creative and sometimes have trouble coming up with cool ideas, but together we have made a ton of progress!!

This wedding is so much more work than I ever imagined, so I’m pretty happy that I didn’t register for any marathons this year 😉 I am looking into a summer half marathon! It can’t be the Rock n’ Roll Chicago because that’s taking place on the weekend of my bachelorette party (IN VEGAS!!!!). I will find a different half, no doubt, but I’m a bit sad because Rock n’ Roll is so convenient and fun. Oh well.

That’s about it for now. I’m starting work late today, so I’m off to go run! Have a fantastic Tuesday 🙂
