Look at me, BLOGGING again <3
Honestly, I am so happy to be here. Since my attempt at a diet overhaul and then getting the stomach flu last week, my perspective on life has altered. Things were getting pretty dull in my neck of the woods, considering that my brain was consumed with wedding planning and not much else. I forgot that the rest of my life still existed. Why would I do that?
As you may remember from my last post, I promised to register for my annual Shamrock Shuffle 8k race. I’ve been shufflin’ even before I ran for fun. My first Shamrock Shuffle was in 2007, when I was 19-years-old! I remember that my cousin, Kat, practically dragged me the entire 5 miles. Now? I’m a MARATHONER. Flashback Shamrock Shuffle recap posts posts on Mel’s Miles: 2014 (MY PR!!), 2015, 2016.
I rocked the tutu in 2014
Anyway, my credit card finally cycled on the 3rd and I immediately registered for this year’s race 😀 Does anyone else like to spread out their purchases as much as I do?
I haven’t been running too much in 2017, but I plan to start my usual training program on Monday. We’ve got 8 more weeks until the race and, while I don’t really know if a PR is in the cards, I want to run the fastest and smartest that I possibly can. My training plans are almost always as follows: one speedy run (as fast as a middle of the pack runner like me goes), one recovery run, and one longer run.
This is my tried and true Shamrock Shuffle 8k training plan:
I do really well with structure, as most humans do, so I am SUPER PSYCHED to begin this training program. I hope to keep this blog updated with my progress. It is winter, but I’m hoping to run outside as much as I can. Some cross training may involve a yoga class instead, but hey, stretching is important 😉
Have a great rest of your week, everyone! I’ll blog again next week at the latest!
