^How’s that for a post title, right? First off, if you follow me on Instagram, you may know that I was selected from the lottery to participate in the Chicago Marathon! I am so excited!!! I ran the marathon in 2012 and in 2015. I trained my heart out for my first marathon in 2012 and ran a very strong race. This was pre-blog, so I don’t have a recap, but I finished in 4:32:57 and never hit a wall. In 2015, I really wanted to just get back in the marathon training/running game and I succeeded 🙂 This year, I have some big goals and a lot more motivation to do well in the marathon.
I love running marathons!
To prepare for marathon training, I’m doing a little bit of running and a whole lot of strength training. I’m also cross-training and practicing yoga once a week. I want to be strong and well prepared for a healthy marathon training cycle, which is set to begin in June. I’m also still trying to clean up my diet. I’ve been making smoothies lately to get in more fruits and veggies. Andy is getting in on the health kick a bit too (AKA I make him smoothies and he drinks them). My goal at the moment is to work out 5 days/week. Last week, I didn’t make it to 5 days, but this past week went very well!
Last Week’s Workouts
Monday: Circuit workout with Oksana. She just finished an internship with a sports performance place and was able to teach me some really cool exercises!
Tuesday: Elliptical for 30 minutes
Wednesday: 1 hour yoga class
Thursday: 1 mile run to celebrate getting into the marathon + tried to remember/complete most of the exercises Oksana taught me on Monday 🙂
Sunday: 3 mile run in the forest preserve
It was LOVELY outside. Can’t wait for summer running!
Do you have a favorite smoothie recipe?
