Chicago Marathon Training 06/22 – 06/28

First of all, I apologize for not posting on Monday. I didn’t have enough to say to warrant a blog post. I still do have a little bit to say that’s not running-related, though! So, before I start telling you guys about my training, I need to let you know how happy I am that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage! Eeeek! In my opinion, marriage equality has been a long time coming… not to get all political on my blog or anything – just had to mention it. To celebrate, Andy and I attended the Pride Parade here in Chicago! It was my first time going and I had a BLAST! IMG_2887 Last week was also exciting because it was my first *official* week of marathon training. So far, I’m on track. I’m a little nervous for my 9 mile long run this coming weekend, though. It’s been a long time since I ran that distance. The longest run I’ve done in 2015 is 7 miles. Nine miles shouldn’t be too much different than 7… I hope 🙂 Last Week’s Workouts Monday: 3 mile run Tuesday: Long walk along the Evanston lakefront with Britta. This is becoming an amazing Tuesday tradition! IMG_2866   Wednesday: 4 mile run! Thursday: 20 minute run/walk while coaching the running club. It was my first opportunity to coach because our other sessions got rained out. I had so much fun and loooooved interacting with the group 🙂 Friday: Rest Saturday: Rest Sunday: 6 mile long run. The first run with my new watch: the Garmin Forerunner 10!! IMG_2870 If anyone wants to be friends on DailyMile or follow my workouts in “real time,” my account is here! Let’s be friends!! What is your newest fitness-related purchase? Does your town have a Pride Parade?
