Ahhh!! Can you believe it’s JUNE?! Bunny Bunny to those who are superstitious like I am 😉 My birthday weekend came and went, but it’s actually still happening! Today I’m off work and have a day full of fun plans. The first activity for today is to get my long run (6 miles) done with Oksana! After that, I’m hanging out with Jessica from my internship (hiiiiii, Jessica, if you’re reading this!) and then dinner with some old coworkers from my banking days. This will be my first time seeing anyone from my old job in nearly 2 months! So, I obviously skipped my long run yesterday since I’m doing it today, but I did a lot of other cool stuff. Andy got me a cake on Friday night. So cute that he had them put my name on it 🙂 I worked on Saturday, but that’s ok because I also got flowers from people at work! I redeemed my Starbucks birthday reward during my lunch break. Iced soy caramel macchiato – my favorite FO’ FREE! On Saturday night, Andy planned to take me to the Signature Room at the John Hancock for cocktails after having dinner somewhere nearby. For those who aren’t from Chicago/don’t know about it, the Signature Room is a great alternative to going up to the top of the Willis Tower. This is because you pay for drinks/food rather than paying a fee to see the view. I’ve never been to the Signature Room, but apparently it’s super touristy. I still want to go, haha! The weather ended up being abysmal on Saturday night – we wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the view at all. Instead of the Signature Room, I requested that we go to the Cheesecake Factory. This was the best choice of my whole day – Cheesecake Factory has really delicious food! I feel like I run into someone I know EVERYWHERE – our waiter was a friend of a friend that I had last seen about 4 years ago. Crazy. He remembered my name and wrote it on my cheesecake plate. I got the royal treatment that day, for sure 🙂 Oh, and I had eggplant parmesan for dinner, which was soooooo good. Nom nom nom. We finished off our night by watching the Blackhawks win the playoffs! We went to a new brewery near Andy’s old place – Breakroom Brewery. Too bad it wasn’t there back when Andy lived down the block! It’s always exciting to be at a bar when the Hawks win instead of at home because it’s a huge celebration. Hockey is one of the few sports that I actually understand some of the rules – probably because I used to be a figure skater AND was a hockey cheerleader for one season <- yes, this is very weird, but it was fun until our “squad” disbanded.
I had a tiny beer 🙂
We spent Sunday sleeping in until 11 (I can’t remember the last time I did that!) and then did some shopping/gardening. I bought a cute little fence to put around my vegetable garden. The fence is mostly to keep bunnies out. Hopefully it will work… I’m definitely not a gardening expert and have no idea what I’m doing. Don’t judge me. Andy was underwhelmed by how tiny my garden is, but whatever. I’ll have more veggies than I’ll ever need.
Some of the veggies seem to be growing! I can’t remember what any of those plants are, though… It will be a surprise.
