I’m completely stealing Ashley’s idea for a post today. Originally, I was going to post a Gratitude Friday entry, but my 100 Happy Days challenge has served as my gratitude lately. Hearing about my day minute-by-minute is way more fun 😉 This day in the life post features my regular day off: Thursday! A post about my workday would be a super-bore and my weekends are always different. SO, here is how I spend almost every single Thursday. 7:30am: I wake up wondering why my alarm did not go off and quickly remember that I set it for 7:35. 7:33am: Realize that I have to pee and wonder when the darn alarm will sound so I can get up. Apparently I don’t have free will, haha! 7:35am: Switch off the alarm and run to the bathroom as quietly as I can because Andy is still asleep. 7:36 – 7:50am: Wash face, brush teeth, put on running clothes, tie hair back into a ponytail, get other things together that I want to take with me to the gym. 7:51 – 8:00am: Chat with Andy, who is now awake. Realize that I need to leave for Oksana’s house now if we want to make it to the gym on time. 8:05 – 8:25am: Drive to Oksana’s, curse horrible Chicago traffic, eat my pathetic granola bar breakfast. 8:25 – 8:30am: Wait outside Oksana’s house in my car while changing from flipflops to running shoes. 8:31: Oksana emerges from her house and asks if she can drive my car to the gym. She is currently practicing for driving test and I am one of her 3 teachers 🙂 I hand over my keys and move to the passenger seat. 8:32-8:45: Oksana drives us to the gym and I try to stop myself from being a backseat driver. 8:46-9:25: I hop on the treadmill and do 5x400s. A show called “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” is on and I stay on the treadmill a little longer than planned to see what happens. The woman on the show ends up having TWINS. What the what?! 9:40: Oksana and I find ourselves at the Target across the street from our gym, as usual 😉 We purchase drinks from Starbucks and I add $20 to my card. All of my gift cards from Christmas and my birthday are officially spent. So sad. I order my usual tall nonfat vanilla iced coffee.
9:45-10:00: We shop around in the makeup and office supplies sections. Oksana ends up buying a new shampoo and conditioner; I leave empty handed. 10:15: Oksana drives us over to the library on our way back to her house. I just finished “The Fault in Our Stars” and am already jonesing for a new book to read. 10:30: I check out “The Geography of Bliss” because I’m obsessed with happiness research.
10:45: Oksana and I say our goodbyes, I move to the driver’s seat, and head back to my apartment. 11:04: Park in front of my place and rush inside. 11:09 – 11:20: I shower and get ready to go volunteer. 11:24: I make two PB&J sandwiches, one to eat for lunch and another to bring to work the next day.
11:27 – 11:50: Eat my sandwich, some chips, and a banana while reading some of my new book. 11:55: my hair is still wet so I put it in a French braid. 12:00: leave for volunteering. 12:20: arrive at volunteering. 12:30 – 2:45: work with my resident on a painting of Olaf from “Frozen.” We are doing a series of Disney pictures right now 🙂 here’s the unfinished product:
3:00 – 3:30: I’m back at Target, this time for wine. Since it’s my day off and everything, I allow myself to look at clothes, books, and other fun things before heading to the wine aisle. I selected a red blend that was on sale and checked out.
3:54 – 5:00: I arrive home, have a snack (mixed berry sorbet popsicle), and type up a school assignment. 5:20 – 6:45: arrive at Andy’s apartment, chat with him for over an hour, and decide on the movie we will use our free Redbox code on. We decided to rent “Delivery Man.” 6:46 – 7:05: head to Walgreens. I grab the movie from Redbox and Andy buys us noodles to make spaghetti. 7:15 – 7:37: Andy makes spaghetti while I read some blogs and Facebook stalk. Such a great guy 😉 7:40 – 9:50: watch “Delivery Man” while eating pasta and drinking wine.
10:00 – 11:30: I fall asleep on the couch. 11:30 – 12:00: I mess around on my phone until it dawns on me that I should probably go to bed for real this time, haha. So, that was my day. I guess I go to Target a lot 😉 What is your favorite wine? Have you ever taught someone how to drive?
