Sara and I always joke about how much we hate running during a race, but then want to register for yet another race only minutes after crossing the finish line. The two of us were pretty miserable for the second half of Ragnar earlier this month, but emailed back and forth about other races the following morning. It’s an addiction, this running thing 😉 We decided that our next big race will be the Chicago Half Marathon!
I actually ran the Chicago Half last year. A friend and I were all set to run, but she canceled on me at the last minute. The day of the 2013 race included a baby shower about an hour away, which meant a lot of rushing around for the day on top of running 13.1 miles. Without my running buddy, I almost decided to drop out, but I have a problem with backing down. I ended up at the race and it was a BLAST. I didn’t PR (finished in around 2:10), but it was one of my favorite and smartest races.
My medal from last year 🙂
I even wrote in my 2014 Running Goals post that the Chicago Half was one of the races I wanted to do. Today, I finally registered 😀 As far as training goes, I have 9 weeks to prepare.
