Good morning! How are you guys today? I’m super excited because the winner of the 2014 Michelob Ultra Chicago 13.1 Marathon® race entry will be announced at the end of this post! First, I wanted to talk about my goals for the Shamrock Shuffle 8k, which I am running this weekend 🙂 As I may have mentioned in previous posts, I started running the Shamrock Shuffle back in 2007 (my freshman year of college!) when there was a 5k walk option (I did the 8k each time after that). I literally have not missed the race since then, which means this is my eighth year in a row running the Shamrock Shuffle! WOW. In 2008 I completed my first 8k in 57:28 and last year finished in 44:00. How’s that for improvement? Looking at my results, I see now that I’ve PRed every single year. Just for fun, here’s a photo of me running the Shamrock Shuffle in 2011. This was a month or two before I discovered the joys of dri-fit running clothes 😉
Here’s my list of goals:
The “I Will Do This No Matter What” Goal – Leave everything out on the course and do the absolute best I can regardless of the circumstances.
The “I’d Be Pretty Stoked If This Happened” Goal – Finish in under 45 minutes. Not a PR, but still a time I’d be happy with 🙂
The “I’d Be REALLY Stoked If This Happened” Goal – Finish in 43:59 or under. PR City, baby!
My “This Is My Original Goal” Goal – Finish in 42:59 or under. I usually PR in the Shamrock Shuffle by about 2 minutes each time. It would be AWESOME to keep up with tradition. This time would be pretty fast for me, but could totally happen if I put my mind to it…
The “I Must Be Dreaming” Goal – Finish in 40:00 or under. Probably not going to happen, but I’m buying a round of drinks for everyone if it does!
So, basically, there is no possible way that I can fail at this 😉 Even without a PR, I’m SO EXCITED to get out and run again. My last race was in January, which feels like an eternity ago.
Anyway, enough about me. I think you’re all ready to see who won the 2014 Michelob Ultra Chicago 13.1 Marathon® race entry giveaway!
The winner is… LIZ!! Liz, if you would contact me with your full name at firstname.lastname@example.org that would be wonderful 🙂 CONGRATULATIONS!!
And that concludes the first ever giveaway on Mel’s Miles! Thanks to everyone for participating!
