Not only has this been a slow week for posting on this blog, but I also had a pretty slow week of training. Both of these are due to having a packed schedule. Most things on my schedule were fun, though, so it’s not a big deal at all 🙂 I even attended a 94th birthday party! Some of this sounds like a lame excuse for not fitting in my workouts, but my body really did need a rest. This was a step-back week in my training. The week before, I ran 2.5 more miles, which I suppose makes a significant difference. I felt incredibly sore last week, but now my legs feel fresh. Here is what I did: Monday: Scheduled rest day. Tuesday: 35 minute tempo run. Wednesday: Scheduled rest day. Thursday: Easy 3 mile run. Friday: Skipped cross-training to do my taxes. Saturday: Weekends are usually used for my long runs, but this week’s run was only 3 miles – not a distance I consider to be “long” 🙂 Sunday: Skipped cross-training again in favor of attending the birthday party. I mean, how many people do you know who are 94?!
My pace is something I definitely need to acknowledge! I don’t frequently post my pace on here – mostly because I forget to record it after each run. Sometimes, I’ll take pictures like this one (I should do this more often!):
My typical training pace ranges between about 9:40-10:40 minutes per mile. My race pace is probably more like 8:50-9:30 (for a 5k or 10k – obviously not for a half marathon). I’m not the fastest runner, but I’m finally trying to work on it rather than wing it at races 🙂 ——————————————————————————————————– The upcoming week of training is comparable to week 2, which was a pretty tough week! BRING IT ON.
