Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1

Hi, everyone! I apologize for not writing all weekend, but I just had to unplug and enjoy my time in California. I left off at the San Francisco airport where I had a 2 hour layover. When I arrived in LA, Sara informed me that she found an amazing rental car deal while she waited for me at the airport. It was my very first time renting a car (I think it was Sara’s first time, too) so I was pretty nervous, but excited ๐Ÿ™‚

20140120-073421.jpg Pardon my outfit/hair/general appearance; I just endured 8 hours of traveling and couldn’t bother with looking good, ha! Once we signed our lives over to the Hertz rental car place, Sara and I immediately made a bee line to In n’ Out Burger. I had never been there, which means it was my number one priority for day one on the west coast.

20140120-073811.jpg As a vegetarian, I had to order a grilled cheese, which Mr. A will definitely laugh at due to this hilarious link he shared with me a while ago. Also, spoiler alert: In n’ Out is the least expensive food in all of California. After In n’ Out, we checked into our hotel, dropped off our luggage, and headed to the expo! My mission was to find a commemorative Sweaty Band, but they were sold out of the official ones. Luckily, there were other, less “official,” versions available at the Sweaty Bands booth. Sara and I also found a good deal on arm warmers from One More Mile, which I’ve always wanted to own. They definitely came in handy on race day. Obviously the other mission was to obtain our bibs and shirts. Aside from selling out of the headband I wanted, my one and only other complaint about the Tinker Bell Half expo was the difficulty we had figuring out where to pick up our bibs. It was quite the headache to push through the crowds, go outside, and then down to a basement, but the lines weren’t bad once we arrived and the volunteers were super friendly.

20140120-075818.jpg The coolest part is that Sara and I formed a team, “Raptors in the Kitchen.” We each received an extra bib with our team name on it and a sweet sash to wear ๐Ÿ™‚

20140120-080207.jpg After perusing the expo for a couple hours, we walked around a few shops and ate some delicious pizza at Pizza Press. This isn’t a food blog, but I created my own awesome pizza and REALLY wish I had taken a picture of it. I think I’ll make this post a three-parter! I have lots of time today to write about my trip (long layovers FTW!) Talk to you soon ๐Ÿ™‚
